fighting eel fall 2009 - take two

lily

clicked over to fighting eel today and what should i find but the second round of fall goodness!

while i am one who finds herself grumbling about retailers pushing xmas goods before halloween trick-or-treaters have come a-knocking, i can't help but crush over the cheery and festive stripes popping up throughout the collection. with its playful modern spin on a holiday outfit, the multicolored sweetness reminds me of zooey deschanel singing and strolling her way through elf's winter wonderland.

fe's fall extension also continues to rework the 80's via geo's edgy and punky strappy back while a repeated wave pattern, which first appeared in designer rona bennett's art prints before being reappropriated into a textile, creates a flowy abstract graphic made to woo the stylish girls who surf set.

word is that many fall 2 styles are already selling out so hele over to the butik (co-owned by fe designer lan chung) for first picks, or click over to the stockist list to locate your favorite neighborhood boutique. of course, you can continue to shop past season styles at the fe showroom:

p.s. the latest fall looks will arrive in fe's online shop in the next few weeks, however select styles from round one of fall 2009 can now be scooped up!

new peeks: midori jewelry resort collection

marrakesh

it's a bit gloomy in my part of the world today so i thought i would share a peek of midori jewelry's dazzling resort collection today. i am loving the exotic and organic shapes featured throughout the latest offering from oahu designer traci morinaga, and have become quite fond of the burnished gold glow found on many of the designs.

behind-the-scene stories of how the arboreal necklace (below) was cast from a mint leaf which left behind a lovely texture compliments of its delicate structure connects the dots from inspiration to maker to wearer. another favorite is midori's moroccan adornment which, with its pointed curves and ethnic flair, hints of faraway lands and wanderings through bustling bazaars.

the one element that remains constant is how traci designs with the islands in mind by mixing in natural gemstones reminiscent of ocean waves and other sweet reminders of paradise. this time around a self-imposed challenge to craft wearable pieces that could transition from day to evening and work to play without stretching already pinched budgets resulted in the addition of stones in a subtle, smoky palette perfect for autumn.

take note that the resort collection (price tag ranges from $30 to over $100; featured designs are priced from the mid-to-upper end) is exclusively stocked at midori's network of indie boutiques around the islands and on the mainland.

readers crunched on time can hele over to adore in kahala mall and alliway at ward warehouse where you can scoop up select designs from the resort collection and special order pieces not stocked in-store.

click over to the official website to take a peek at midori's most recent collection of online offerings.
