new peeks: midori jewelry resort collection
it's a bit gloomy in my part of the world today so i thought i would share a peek of midori jewelry's dazzling resort collection today. i am loving the exotic and organic shapes featured throughout the latest offering from oahu designer traci morinaga, and have become quite fond of the burnished gold glow found on many of the designs.
behind-the-scene stories of how the arboreal necklace (below) was cast from a mint leaf which left behind a lovely texture compliments of its delicate structure connects the dots from inspiration to maker to wearer. another favorite is midori's moroccan adornment which, with its pointed curves and ethnic flair, hints of faraway lands and wanderings through bustling bazaars.
the one element that remains constant is how traci designs with the islands in mind by mixing in natural gemstones reminiscent of ocean waves and other sweet reminders of paradise. this time around a self-imposed challenge to craft wearable pieces that could transition from day to evening and work to play without stretching already pinched budgets resulted in the addition of stones in a subtle, smoky palette perfect for autumn.
more peeks below . . .
