etsy scout: peppermint cloud

bachio

is it possible that anyone one else is a bit wistful that etsy's indie emporium filled with pretty yet affordable details arrived after her wedding day? with so many handmade delights to be found online, i find myself swooning repeatedly and, on occasion, share them with my mister who, to his credit, nods sympathetically and sweetly consoles me that our wedding cakes were fabulous even without the world's cutest topper.

so it should come as no surprise that the romantic loveliness offered by honolulu's peppermint cloud found a fan after my first peek of the charming creamsicle boutonniere. upon discovering that all this dreaminess was made in hawaii only added to my happiness . . . what luck for modern day island brides who now have a sweet dose of sartorial wonder in their backyard. hooray!

creator litton ludwig began crafting the designs that would eventually populate peppermint cloud's collection during her days as a diy bride-to-be. her bridal hair fascinators are simply stunning and harken back to 1940's movie stars gliding across the silver screen with a gardenia blossom pinned in her hair. each one is carefully constructed of layers of soft feathers or silk petals and occasionally accented with restrained sparkle, delicate lace or topped off with a cap of tulle.

and, if you really want to embrace your glamorous side, take a peek at the two piece pesca made with silk organdy coaxed into gorgeous ruffles. even if your wedding 'do is not meant for one of peppermint cloud's fascinators, just know that it can also be attached to straps and sashes to add extra ooh la la to your gown.

grooms typically have few options to inject a little whimsy into their outfit but happily peppermint cloud is to the rescue. wouldn't you love to be invited to a wedding where the groomsmen have nixed the standard issue floral boutonniere and replaced them with cheery handcut fabric petals mixed with ribbon, buttons, twigs and other flair to brighten up their lapels?

everybody loves creamsicle boutonniere

amarena * turtle dove

the gorgeous photos only add to the romance and are quite possibly the loveliest etsy product shots ever shared on h|h. credit goes to mr. peppermint cloud who just happens to spend his days snapping photographs side by side with his missus.

litton is also happy to create a fascinator just for you while boutonnieres (which are offered in grownup and keiki sizes) can also be made to complement your wedding palette. since each piece is made to order, turnaround time ranges from one to three weeks and up to six weeks for large custom orders.

currently, the etsy shop is the exclusive source for peppermint cloud goods so click over and take a peek at the entire collection!

new peeks: fighting eel spring/summer 2010

zulu + ellie

goodness, somehow almost the first half of the year has slipped by without a fighting eel update so, while my oven is busy slow-roasting tomatoes, i gathered up a few of my favorite styles from the honolulu label's spring and summer collections.

the word from fe hq is that the summer palette was inspired by the gorgeous succulent garden tended to by co-designer rona bennett. summertime's shades are warm and sophisticated and taken from the kiss of color that adds a little depth to the pokey plant's bright green leaves. and, does anyone else agree that kcc's famous cactus garden appears to be the backdrop for summer's lookbook?

lately, patterns have been finding their way into my closet and fe's geometric bailey bone repeat for spring is making me quite happy. the pattern is sprinkled throughout the second spring lineup in an abundance of pretty silhouettes making it it tough to pick just one so click, peek, and pipe in with your favorite, s'il vous plaît!

jolie * dafne * jett
yoko + izzy

spring styles can be scooped up in the online shop and at your favorite neighborhood stockist while summer 2010 is expected to arrive in-store by early june.

and, of course, you know by now (but always worth repeating for new friends) to stop by fe's showroom for fabulous deals on past season looks:

posh pua spring/summer 2010

hinahina

a year has zipped by since posh pua was first introduced on h|h and the maui label's spring/summer 2010 collection is a bit overdue for a peek. julie from posh pua sent word about the new lineup while i was deep undercover finishing up h|h's makeover and i finally had a chance to click over to the website and found the new convertible hinahina bikini top too cute not to share. with some simple remanuevering, hinahina can go from strapless to a halter style and offers a sweet surprise around the back with its darling knotted tie.

all in all, there are quite a few new additions to the swim line with five mix-and-match styles on offer this season. while swimwear production has moved off maui to keep up with demand, julie continues to make the everyday staples sewn with eco-friendly textiles including new additions like racerback tanks and bamboo/organic cotton leggings to pair with your favorite tunics and dresses all year round.

metallic racerback tunic * bamboo leggings

the lovely patterned textiles found in the swim collection are limited edition and gone for good once they sell out (aloha sweet hearts pattern!). your best bet is to check in with julie prior to ordering and inquire about the current selection which typically includes three solids and three patterns.

you can scoop up all the featured styles via posh pua's etsy shop as well as the official online shop where the hard-to-fit can order up a bikini with custom measurements. or support your neighborhood stockists and make your way to wings hawaii in paia and guava shop in haleiwa.
