ohana style at manuheali'i

yes virginia, there is a difference between tacky outdated alohawear and cool vintage island threads. the fresh botanical prints from manuheali'i will no doubt fall into the latter category one day and their website is the perfect one stop shop to pick up gifts for the entire family. and since they ship via priority mail your order just may squeak by the postmaster's holiday deadline.

take a peek at manuheali'i's hibiscus collection which has everything from the cute ailana dress & boys' aloha shirts (shown above) to stylish shirts for grownups and lovely fabric lined lauhala handbags for the ladies.

manuheali'i says aloha

kalo knit + spider lily

i'm not one for traditional aloha wear but a friend just turned me on to a cool line called manuheali'i. their clothing is very wearable and quite pretty with the added bonus of more modern cuts on pieces like the kalo boat knit top (shown above).

if you like what you see then hele over to their site (or stop by their shop in kailua or punahou) since manuheali'i is having a sale which means you can save 20% (or more).

{mahalo kym for the tip!}

'oiwi ocean gear

lanikai board shorts

you know you're an ocean warrior if sitting on the beach and admiring the waves from afar makes you want to jump into the water. before you jump into your canoe, check out the paddling line from 'oiwi ocean gear. the hawaii based company designs functional pieces tough enough to take the punishment of island waves but adds just enough style to catch everyone's eye as you glide over the water.

if you can't make it to their kailua shop, stop by athleta's website and take a peek at 'oiwi's retro lanikai line online.

island glassworks

fire calabash vase

one of the more mesmerizing places to visit is a glass studio where it's impossible to peel your eyes away as the artist manipulates the hot glass into a piece of art. island glassworks recently opened in kailua and is the only glass studio in hawaii open to the public.

in addition to showcasing his designs in the gallery, glass blower geoff lee also offers workshops to glass enthusiasts who are interested in learning the craft firsthand.
