aloha friday scoop

offline life kept me unexpectedly preoccupied these past few days so, combined with feeling less than inspired of late, i must apologize for my lack of posts this week. one of my highlights was befriending this delicous garlic bread recipe by the barefoot contessa in the kitchen. chop, sauté, spread, bake & enjoy!

tomorrow is the official play date for the cupcake pop-up with 10% off all keiki charm from the boutique (including fishtales, jolie + jane, mi cielo & moopiland), plus the chance to scoop up little delights from our friends at miemiko atelier, my little love, shop toast & more.

p.s. first 150 guests score tote bags & cupcake pops!

collectors will be bidding away during the 6th ever hawaiian islands vintage surf auction. peek old school boards and collectibles (save those stickers, kids!) and say hello to artist heather brown when you shop the surf fair.

p.s. off island peeps can bid via absentee proxy or online during the live auction (4p hst).

  • when: sat, jul 29th - 10a to 7:30p
  • where: galleria hall & pikake room @ blaisdell center

only a week remains for oahu candy geeks to stock up on sweet paradise chocolatier's handmade confections before the kailua shop shuts its doors and moves to maui.

  • when: now to sat, jul 30th
  • where: 20 kainehe street, kailua
  • shop hours: tue to sat, 11a to 6p

island crush: feather flourish

i have shied away from all things feathery since the valley girl barrette religiously worn in the fourth grade . . . and then i spied modern philosophy's drop back feather lariat.

the plumed beauties are an unexpected play on the feather trend, and the perfect foil for a summery updo and peekaboo back.

$125 in-store at the butik.

look what i spied on etsy earlier this week! the new poster series by everything is jake! pictures a trio of iconic kaua'i settings with a lush simplicity that you will make you sigh while remembering the breathtaking vistas of waimea canyon, wailua's stunning waterfalls, and the magnificant na pali coast.

party girl: my little love

islanders love a happy celebration and now pretty party supplies have arrived on the big island to decorate all those folding tables that magically appear when called into duty. hooray! after styling family festivities and hosting her little one's first baby luau, my little love proprietor becky rivera decided to hunt down the fabulous little details featured in the many party peeks on our favorite design blogs in hopes other kama'aina also shared her crush and yearned for a dash of delightfulness to perk up their own soirées.

the online shop made its first hellos earlier this month and is filled with fun fare from patterned balloons and goody bags from paper eskimo to a rainbow of divine twine and striped party cups from sambellina (on its way from australia).

becky, who now calls kona home, plans to offer party styling and pint-sized rentals for smaller social events on the big island later this summer and hopes to extend the service to her hometown of honolulu closer to the holidays.

and, no more procrastinating on those party plans if your zip code falls within the 50th state since my little love's grand opening invitation also includes complimentary shipping to local mailboxes (automatically applied at checkout; pickup is offered for kona friends) through the end of the year!

p.s. oahu peeps can meet my little love's curated selection of party goods at cupcake's keiki pop-up shop this next weekend (details in tomorrow next friday's scoop).
